Cups to grams, done right.

Every feature, from the first launch.

No account, no login, no cloud. Everything runs on your device and works fully offline — nothing in this post is hidden behind a wall.

What Gramwise does

Every cup-to-gram converter on the App Store assumes a cup of sugar equals a cup of flour — they don't. They assume an egg is just 'an egg' — large vs jumbo varies 14g. And almost none handle real bakers' edge cases (packed brown sugar, sifted flour, softened butter).

Gramwise has the data tables you actually need:

— 200+ ingredients with USDA-derived weight-per-volume data. — Eggs sized correctly (small / medium / large / extra-large / jumbo), in / out of shell, separated yolk vs white. — Butter: sticks, tablespoons, cups, sliced cubes — all to grams. — Sugars: granulated, brown packed/loose, powdered sifted/unsifted. — Flours: all-purpose spooned vs scooped, bread, almond, oat — different weights. — Liquids: water, milk, oil, honey — density adjusts the conversion.

Plus a recipe scaler: paste in a recipe, set new servings, get every quantity scaled AND converted between cup/metric in a side-by-side view.

Free, on-device, no subscription. Density tables ship in the binary. No internet. Works offline in your kitchen forever.

What's inside

  • Ingredient picker — Search 200+ ingredients by name
  • Quick convert — Type 1.5 cups all-purpose flour → 188 g
  • Recipe scaler — Paste recipe + new servings → scaled + converted
  • Egg sizer — Convert # of large eggs to # of medium, or to grams
  • Butter calculator — Sticks ↔ tbsp ↔ cups ↔ grams

Why we built it

Existing cup/gram converters use a single global density (e.g. 240g per cup) regardless of ingredient. Cupify users report 'a cup of sugar weighs anywhere from 7-8 ounces' because the app sliders are linked to volume not ingredient — totally wrong. Cooking Units Converter pro features simply don't work. Apple's secret…

What makes it different

Gramwise is the only iOS converter with a per-ingredient density table sourced from USDA + published baking references for 200+ items, plus correct edge-case handling (egg sizes, sugar packed vs loose, flour scooped vs spooned). Includes a recipe-paste parser that scales servings AND converts every line. No subscripti…

Who it's for

Built for anyone who values fast, private, on-device software with a calm, focused UX.
