Every feature, from the first launch.

No account, no login, no cloud. Everything runs on your device and works fully offline — nothing in this post is hidden behind a wall.

What Sideways does

Sideways is the offline session log for owners of reactive dogs working through BAT (Behavior Adjustment Training) or LAT (Look At That). It's the structured record the spreadsheets in r/dogtraining are trying to be — purpose-built for trigger, distance, and threshold work.

What ships in v1:

— Sessions. Date, location, trigger (dog/person/cyclist/skateboard/etc), starting distance, ending distance, duration, what worked. — Under-threshold tracker. Big tap to mark "calm" or "over threshold" during a session. End-of-session graph shows the time-vs-arousal trace. — Trigger ladder. Per-dog list of triggers ranked by difficulty; tap one to start a session against it. Watch your dog's safe distance shrink over weeks. — Wins log. Mark every above-the-line moment — chose to look at you, disengaged, took a treat near the trigger. The list of wins your future-self needs on the bad days. — Trainer share. Export a PDF of recent sessions for your trainer or behaviorist before the next consult. — Multi-dog support. Each dog has their own ladder and history. — Reminders. EventKit nudges for daily decompression walks, weekly threshold reassessment. — No account, no ads, no subscription, no cloud.

For the millions of US dog owners with a reactive dog — the demographic for which there is no purpose-built logging app on iOS, only generic note-takers and spreadsheets.

What's inside

  • Dogs — Per-dog profiles + trigger ladders
  • Start session — Pick trigger + starting distance + location
  • Live session — Big tap for calm/over-threshold; ending distance
  • Trigger ladder — Ranked triggers per dog; watch safe distance shrink
  • Trainer PDF — Export recent sessions for the trainer/behaviorist

Why we built it

Reactive-dog owners run structured BAT/LAT plans that depend on tracking trigger, distance, threshold, and progress — but there's no purpose-built iOS app for it. Owners use spreadsheets, paper notebooks, or generic note apps; none capture the under-threshold/over-threshold time series or surface the trigger ladder.

What makes it different

Sideways is the only iOS app purpose-built for BAT/LAT reactive-dog work: per-dog trigger ladders, per-session distance + duration + under/over-threshold time trace, wins log, and PDF export for the trainer — all offline, no account, no subscription — the entire reactive-dog community currently relies on spreadsheets…

Who it's for

Hobbyists who want a tool that respects their time, their gear, and their offline life.

In one line: Reactive dog. Tracked under threshold.
